Fairy & Gnome Nature Hikes & Builds

What will you build with sticks, bark, acorns and moss?? Join Botanical Center staff for field trips to begin your very own fairy house to display in this year’s Fairy Garden Days!
Tickets are sold with maximum of 4 guests.

Gather up to 4 friends & family:
• Purchase tickets at: www.providenceri.gov/botanical-center/
• $75 for up to 4 participants, must include 1 adult able to assist & supervise children with tools.
• RWPBC Members discount $65
• Ideal for children ages 6 – 12, those who are creative, young at heart, and all those in between!
• Limited space available.
HIKE & BUILD:
• Weather permitting, take a guided nature hike to view nature from a fairy point of view!
• Collect materials to use on your own fairy house. Natural items will be available if inclement weather.
• Learn how to create your own fairy architectural masterpiece. Guidance will be given on using glues, getting your house to stand up and lots of decoration hints.
• Take your Fairy House home to add your finishing touches.
• Earn Free FGD Tickets! Bring back your fairy house to be displayed during Fairy Garden Days and earn 2 free admission tickets to the event!
What to wear:
• Layers to keep you warm and then to peel away in the 70-degree greenhouses!
• Waterproof shoes, boots or sturdy hiking shoes.
Bring:
• Picnic lunch! Snacks! Water!
• Natural materials that you’ve collected to donate to the natural material supplies or to use for your project!
• A sturdy, base to build your house on, like old cutting boards, recycled firm plastic, old plates, pots, or wooden boxes. Remember, if using plastic, it must be hidden.
• Gardening gloves if you’d like to have them for the collecting materials portion.
• Pruners for cutting sticks.
• Hot glue gun if you want to use your own.
• Something to collect materials in and then carry your fairy house home- like an extra-large reusable bag!
What we’ll have:
• Tree slice or alternative options for the base of your fairy house.
• A limited assortment of natural materials for building your house and tiny furnishings.
• Hot glue, Elmer’s glue, Wood glue.
• Limited number of pruners, hot glue guns twine and wire.
