Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

Laugh, learn, and get inspired by a mix of people from Providence as they share their ideas, stories, and creations using the PechaKucha format of 20 images that last 20 seconds each. This month’s edition takes place at the Roger Williams Botanical Center, and the theme is Out of the Woods!

What does it take to emerge stronger, clearer, and ready to grow? Teaming up with Bloom RI and the RI Freedom Collective, we’re celebrating the color, joy, and life that finds you, whether you’re lost in the literal woods or making your way through brain fog. Join us to explore what it means to find your way out.

🌐 How have spaces around you transformed into places of joy or renewal?
🎨 How has creative work helped you navigate the unknown?
🔥 What have you discovered about yourself after the fog lifted?

What is PechaKucha?

If you haven’t heard of this global yet unpronounceable phenomenon, PechaKucha is a monthly format for sharing ideas in which presenters are allotted 20 slides and 20 seconds per slide. Simply put: it’s 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell for grown-ups. It began in Tokyo in 2003, has since spread to over 1,200 cities worldwide, and first landed in Providence in March of 2009. To the best of our knowledge, Providence is the only chapter in the entire world that hosts a PechaKucha Night every month of the year.

Our outgoing Board Chair Joe Pari went for a boat ride with us to talk about the history of Roger Williams Park, the founding of the Conservancy, some favorite memories and projects, and of course, Rosé in the Roses on June 11 at the Botanical Center!🌹
