Books and Banter: Book Club

September 14, 11 AM
Roger Williams Park Botanical Center

New Book Club pick! “The Rarest Fruit” by Gaëlle Bélem is an auto fiction based on the true story of Edmond Albius—an orphaned slave raised by botanist Ferréol Beaumont in 19th-century La Réunion. Edmond unlocks the secrets to revolutionizing the vanilla industry by hand-pollinating orchids. Discuss this story’s themes of survival and ingenuity against the backdrop of colonial exploitation at this book club.

Take a moment to unwind and spend time with other people during two Mental Health Mornings on the calendar this winter: February 12 and March 14, 9-10 AM.

Join us for an hour of calm in the magical space of the @rwpbotanicalcenter with a relaxed session guided by health expert Sandra Victorino, co-founder of the Latino Mental Health Network of Rhode Island with her own practice. Each session is free, but registration (link in bio) is required to keep the group to a reasonable size.

Hope to see you there!
