South Providence Gallery Tour

July 12 & August 16, 2-4 PM
Begins at the Roger Williams Park Gateway Center
As part of Museo del Barrio, Rhode Island Latino Arts (RILA) is partnering with the Roger Williams Park Gateway Center and the Roger Williams Park Museum of Natural History and Planetarium for the first-ever South Providence Museum & Gallery Tour.

On three Sunday afternoons—June 14, July 12, and August 16 from 2:00-4:00pm—we invite you to spend a few hours exploring art, history, and community right here in South Providence.

The tour begins at the Gateway Center, where visitors can view nine portraits as part of the Somos Rhode Island collection created by Rene Gómez. These portraits are of Rhode Islanders whose stories helped shape our community and inspired the oral histories that later became La Broa’, this summer’s Teatro en El Verano production.

Groovin' Summer Movies continues this Friday, July 3, with "Sing" (2016)! Start the holiday weekend off right by heading over to Food Truck Friday (kicks off at 5 PM) for karaoke and easy dinner plans at Carousel Village, and then make your way to the Boathouse Lawn for the movie, starting at sundown!

We're in for a week of hot weather, which means there's no better time to be outside than later in the evening when the temps drop – but it doesn't hurt to bring your own water and bug spray!

Special thanks to @pvdfilmfestival for making Movies in the Park possible, with support from @providencetourism and @@pvdparks, and to @pvd_foodtruckevents and @rwpzoo for hosting Food Truck Friday at Carousel Village!
Join us for a Partner Peace Walk tomorrow at 12 PM! All are welcome to take a stroll with us and @nonviolenceinstitute to connect, talk, and enjoy the outdoors – meet at the Boathouse at Roger Williams Park. These walks take place every Friday, except for holidays.
THANK YOU to everyone who made Rosé in the Roses so memorable! Last Thursday, we celebrated the Conservancy and community, while giving a bittersweet send-off to RWPC’s outgoing board chair, Joe Pari.

Shout-out to @theprovidencedrumtroupe and @thesoundofgravity for filling the Botanical Center with magical sights and sounds – we can’t be the only ones still humming Pink Pony Club, right? 🤩 And to talented musicians Ashley Frith and @luisgilbertord for serenading guests throughout the night!

Stay tuned for a part-2 recap highlighting the rest of our amazing vendors and sponsors who made this year’s event one for the books!
