Event Series: “Faces of the Rainforest” Opening Weekend

 

Roger Williams Park Zoo officially opens its eagerly-awaited exhibit – Faces of the Rainforest – on Friday, November 30.

“It is with great excitement that we announce the opening of this magnificent new exhibit, providing all our guests with the opportunity to experience the South American Rainforest here in Rhode Island,” said Dr. Jeremy Goodman, executive director of Roger Williams Park Zoo.

“I am so thrilled that visitors will have the opportunity to experience a free-flying aviary, get close to a number of species, and truly learn about the indigenous monkeys, birds, amphibians, and reptiles of the Amazon Rainforest,” added Goodman.

The exhibit opens to the public on Friday, November 30 at 12:30 PM and then will be open daily from 10:00 AM-4:00 PM. The Zoo will open for members only at 9:00 AM on Saturday, December 1 and Sunday, December 2 so they can preview the exhibit before the Zoo opens at 10:00 AM.

As the seasons begin to change, it`s a great time to reconnect with the natural world and slow down. We`re excited to partner with the @rwpbotanicalcenter to offer a free Forest Bathing (Shinrin Yoku) session on September 19 at 10 AM with Lee Ann. This guided experience invites you to breathe deeply, notice your surroundings, and open your senses to the sights, sounds, textures, and rhythms of the forest.

Lee Ann Freitas is the director of the Botanical Center and a Certified Forest Therapist, horticulturist, and a hardcore advocate for all things nature. She creates a welcoming and peaceful environment for participants to slow down, connect with nature, and be present.

The session is free, but registration is limited – sign up online (link in bio)!
