Lifelong Learners: Lost Park Tour

Tuesday, August 26, 10 AM – 12 PM
Museum of Natural History and Planetarium

Go back in time with Museum of Natural History and Planetarium docent Mike McGinity on a walking tour through Roger Williams Park. Long lost park treasures and missing monuments will be revisited at their original locations in this nostalgic look at the history of this grand space. Walk meets at the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium.

Please wear comfortable, sturdy shoes for this moderately strenuous walk. Pets and strollers are not permitted.

Program fee per session: $3 per adult/Free for museum members.  Pre-registration required. Capacity is limited. Pets are not permitted on walking tours. Children are not permitted in our lifelong learners programming.

In August, we took a tour of the Roger Williams Park Produce Donation Garden with garden leaders Kim and Deb to see what they were harvesting! Sponsored by the @rwpbotanicalcenter and run by volunteer @urimastergardeners, this flourishing vegetable garden feeds the community by growing and donating fresh, organic produce to local food banks and kitchens, and serves as public education.

They’re on track to grow over 3,500 pounds of food this year! 🍅🫑

The resourceful team of volunteers relies on help from the community. Visit the link in bio to learn more and see their wishlist of items ranging from lumber and hardware cloth to tools and supplies.

As the evenings get cooler, we`re ending the season a little early, so we won`t be gathering next Monday, September 21. Enjoy the start of autumn! 🍂

September means it`s International Coastal Cleanup season – you`ll be among thousands of participants worldwide collecting and documenting what you pick up to contribute important data on marine (including watershed) debris, while helping beautify your favorite park!
