The Museum of Natural History has been an engaging resource and learning experience for New England families since 1896. Celebrate 122 years of the Museum as “The People’s University”…and help to forge its future! Museum and planetarium admissions are free for Providence residents and for visitors who bring a canned good to donate to the RI Community Food Bank or children’s book to donate to Books are Wings.

NEW LOBBY EXHIBIT:
Rhode Island’s Natural Wonder: 
Celebrating Michael Kieron
Rhode Island may be the smallest state in the union, but it is brimming with exciting places to explore. In this exhibit, we highlight popular parks and wildlife refuges as seen through the eyes of our late curator Michael Kieron, whose passion for the natural world inspired everyone who had the good fortune of knowing him. From the quarries of Lincoln to the shores of Sachuest Point, experience Rhode Island’s natural wonder.

10:00 AM-4:00 PM: Museum Family Fun
Cost: 
Free with museum admission of $2 per person
Museum quests, crafts and more.

1:00 PM and 3:00 PM: Museum Vault Tour
Cost:
 $5 per person (includes museum admission; does not include planetarium admission)
Join a tour of the Museum’s collection storage vaults! If you are tantalized by what you have seen on exhibit, come visit the 99% you have not seen.

2:00 PM: From Earth to the Universe Planetarium Show
Cost: 
$3 per person (includes museum admission).
Learn about the journey of celestial discovery, from the theories of the ancient Greek astronomers to today’s grandest telescopes, in this full dome planetarium show. Revel in the splendor of the worlds of the solar system and our Sun. From Earth to the Universe takes you to the colorful birthplaces of stars, and still further out beyond the Milky Way Galaxy to the unimaginable immensity of a myriad galaxies.
Please note: Children under age 4 are not permitted. This full dome planetarium show DOES NOT include a brief tour of the night sky, using the planetarium’s Zeiss star projector.

Thank you to all the fashionistas who attended our Fascinator Workshop at the Botanical Center and created some show-stopping floral accessories with the help of instructor Michelle Carden. 

Even if you missed the workshop, you have full permission to get creative with your Rosé look! Get your tickets by the end of May to enjoy an evening of mingling at the @rwpbotanicalcenter and Rose Maze, delicious bites by Ellie’s Bakery and Morin’s Catering, Mahjong with the @thegildedbirds, entertainment from the @theprovidencedrumtroupe, live music by @luisgilbertord and Ashley Frith, and more!
