Betsey Williams Cottage Free Open Houses

Fridays, 10 AM-3 PM
RWP Museum of Natural History and Planetarium
Step back in time at the Betsey Williams Cottage, built in 1773 and once home to Roger Williams’ great-great-great-granddaughters, Betsey and Rhoda Williams. Upon her death in 1871, Betsey Williams bequeathed the cottage and 102 acres of surrounding farmland to the City of Providence, forming the foundation of what is now Roger Williams Park.
Visit during these FREE open houses (WEATHER PERMITTING) to learn about the history of the cottage and its role in the development of Roger Williams Park. This program is presented by the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. The Betsey Williams Cottage is located near the Elmwood Avenue entrance to Roger Williams Park. Street parking is available near the Rose Garden.

Thank you to @ocean_state_ellary for hosting Monday evening gentle yoga sessions these past couple of months, and to everyone who joined us on the lawn outside the Betsey Williams Cottage! As the evenings get cooler, we're ending the season a little early, so we won't be gathering next Monday, September 21. Enjoy the start of autumn! 🍂
Join us this Friday at 10 AM for a Save the Bay cleanup at Roger Williams Park! September means it's International Coastal Cleanup season – you'll be among thousands of participants worldwide collecting and documenting what you pick up to contribute important data on marine (including watershed) debris, while helping beautify your favorite park!

Sign up (link in bio) to be part of the cleanup at the softball fields on September 18!
