Adventures in STEM during February School Vacation
Saturday, February 15 – Friday, February 21, 2020
Experiment, tinker, build, observe, problem solve, explore and create with fun, hands-on activities at the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium throughout February vacation week. Science, technology, engineering and math are the focus during this week of family fun!

Special STEM Week Happenings

10am-4pm: STEM Family Fun
Cost: Free with museum admission
Activities include: physics experiments with balance and motion, explore concepts of flight, test your engineering skill with a building challenge and special STEM museum quest.

1pm and 2pm: NEW Flight Adventures Full Dome Planetarium Show
Cost: $3.00 per person; includes museum admission. Children must be age 4 and older.
Discover the science of flight through the eyes of a young girl and her grandfather as they explore how birds, kites, planes and models fly. Learn about the history and future plans of flight and how NASA is discovering new and safer ways to travel with the help of future engineers and aviators – like YOU! The program is followed by a brief tour of the night sky, using the planetarium’s Zeiss star projector. (General Audience)

1pm-3pm: Discover Density (Monday, February 17 ONLY)

Do you know the difference between weight and density? Do you know why some things sink and some things float? Join museum educators for a hands-on exploration of these concepts.

1pm-4pm: Archaeology 101 (Tuesday, February 18 ONLY)
Cost: Free with museum admission
Explore the science of archaeology with Brown University’s Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology! Get hands-on experience identifying and recording artifacts, try puzzling together broken pieces of pottery, and meet an archaeologist to learn what studying the past is all about.

THANK YOU to everyone who made Rosé in the Roses so memorable! Last Thursday, we celebrated the Conservancy and community, while giving a bittersweet send-off to RWPC’s outgoing board chair, Joe Pari.

Shout-out to @theprovidencedrumtroupe and @thesoundofgravity for filling the Botanical Center with magical sights and sounds – we can’t be the only ones still humming Pink Pony Club, right? 🤩 And to talented musicians Ashley Frith and @luisgilbertord for serenading guests throughout the night!

Stay tuned for a part-2 recap highlighting the rest of our amazing vendors and sponsors who made this year’s event one for the books!
