General Pulaski

The General Pulaski monument celebrates the Polish “Father of American Cavalry.

Unveiled on “Justice for Poland Day” in 1953 before 3,000 people, this monument celebrates the legacy of General Pulaski, the Polish volunteer who fought alongside General George Washington in the War for American Independence. Considered the “Father of American Cavalry,” Pulaski fought in nearly a dozen engagements, until he was injured in battle in Savannah and later died of his wounds.

A committee of Polish Americans donated this splendid monument to honor the 200th birthday of Pulaski. The 8-foot high granite base weights 40 tons and was quarried and sent by train from Barre, Vermont.

THANK YOU to everyone who made Rosé in the Roses so memorable! Last Thursday, we celebrated the Conservancy and community, while giving a bittersweet send-off to RWPC’s outgoing board chair, Joe Pari.

Shout-out to @theprovidencedrumtroupe and @thesoundofgravity for filling the Botanical Center with magical sights and sounds – we can’t be the only ones still humming Pink Pony Club, right? 🤩 And to talented musicians Ashley Frith and @luisgilbertord for serenading guests throughout the night!

Stay tuned for a part-2 recap highlighting the rest of our amazing vendors and sponsors who made this year’s event one for the books!
