RWP Community Clean ups with Save the Bay

We are partnering with Save the Bay for monthly clean ups in Roger Williams Park to help keep RWP looking its best! Register with Save the Bay HERE, If all spots are full, reach out to us and we will check if they can accomodate more people. Email [email protected]

Friday mornings 9:00 – 11:00 AM
  • June 6th
  • July 11th
  • August 1st

WHAT: Help keep Narragansett Bay clean with Save The Bay! Shoreline trash is ugly and harmful to wildlife, and cleanups are a great way to make a difference. We provide trash bags, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and insect repellant – you bring the helping hands!  This cleanup is hosted by Save The Bay in partnership with Roger Williams Park Conservancy.

WHERE: Roger Williams Park, Providence. Meet at the parking area on Pine Hill Ave, above the Temple to Music; click here for an exact location. NOTE: Roger Williams Park is a large area with no precise addresses, and the Temple to Music is on a one-way loop inside the park. Please use the link provided or search for Temple to Music to navigate to the exact meeting spot, and give yourself plenty of time to arrive!

PREPARE

  • Bring your own water – we recommend a reusable bottle!
  • Bring garden or work gloves (disposable gloves available).
  • Wear sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, and dress for the weather.
  • Plan time to shower and change afterward.
  • Optional: Save resources by bringing your own trash grabber and bucket for collecting trash.

SAFETY TIPS

  • Use tick repellent and sunscreen (provided).
  • Watch for poison ivy and don’t touch it! Learn to recognize it here.
  • Stay within sight of the group.
  • Watch your step! Avoid slippery rocks
  • Don’t overfill trash bags or carry heavy items without help.
  • For sharp items or needles, inform a leader for proper disposal

AFTER THE CLEANUP: Use hand sanitizer, do a tick check, and shower/change at home to minimize exposure to ticks and poison ivy.

REGISTRATION NOTES

  • Pre-registration required. Sign up HERE to let us know you will be part of the team!

  • If the cleanup is full, go to Save the Bay and look for other cleanups or join the waitlist! Spaces often open up.
