PVD World Music: Quarter Water & Wesli

Saturday, August 13th

6:00 – 8:00 PM

Boathouse Lawn (across from the carousel)

Join RWPC and PVD World Music for the 2nd of 4 in the Sunset Cultural Sounds Concert series. Joining us are two prominent bands QuarterWater (NYC) and Wesli (Montreal/Haiti). Hope to see you there.
Quarter Water is a five-piece hip hop band based in NYC. Combining raw and eccentric lyricism with improvisational and textural grooves, Quarter Water creates a sound that draws from a breadth of jazz, R&B, and hip hop influences but is truly their own. Quarter Water is fronted by vocalist Googie, and features Leland Baker on saxophone, Bennett Eiferman on drums, Jack Redsecker on keyboard, and Gabe Leader-Rose on bass.
Wesli, born Wesley Louissaint in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Wesli has grown into his role as a prolific songwriter, guitarist, and producer. Uniting a large cross-section of Montreal talent, his music links Haitian voudou and rara with roots, Afrobeat, and hip-hop. Guest spots on his albums include the likes of Tiken Jah Fakoly, Paul Cargnello, and Malika Tirolien. He has toured under the GlobalFest banner with the Caribbean All Starsr.

Over the last three years, PVD World Music Institute has brought several African Traditional music artists to Providence to transform the city into a musicscape that showcases Providence’s unique cultural music traditions and gives burgeoning artists a voice to communicate with Providence in new and interesting ways. The Providence World Music Series gives the community a chance to interact with, and appreciate musical traditions as diverse as the people of Africa and the World in Rhode Island.

#GivingTuesday2025 is just around the corner, and we get it – there are so many wonderful local nonprofits seeking support this time of year!

Why include Roger Williams Park Conservancy in your giving plan?

Behind the more than 50 free and low-cost programs hosted every year, the restoration of beloved historic structures still playing a role in the community today, and the expansive green spaces and waterways sustaining humans and wildlife alike, there are crucial partnerships and much hard work that goes into stewarding Roger Williams Park.

As Board Member Chris Lanen shares – and so many families can relate to! – "the Park provides [a] retreat into nature. Individually, it gives me a place to exercise and decompress. As a parent, it gives my child a magical place to play, explore, and learn throughout the year.”

To all those celebrating, happy Thanksgiving from RWPC! Don’t forget: our trails and paths are always available for a rejuvenating post-feast walk! 🍂

We would love to hear what you’re thankful for about Roger Williams Park – is it a favorite piece of architecture or a serene place to retreat into nature? A favorite event or family outing that’s become a tradition? Let us know!
