Join or Die Film Screening

September 10, 5:30-7:30 PM
Roger Williams Park Casino

A film about why you should join a club…and why the fate of America depends on it.

Directed by Rebecca Davis and Pete Davis, Join or Die follows the story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of Robert Putnam, whose legendary “Bowling Alone” research into American community decline may hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis. For a synopsis and trailer, visit JoinOrDieFilm.com.

Join the Roger Williams Park Conservancy on September 10 for a free screening of the film at the Casino! Doors open at 5:30 PM, film screening at 6 PM.

Consider donating to support the Conservancy’s important work building community in the Park! Register for this free documentary film screening online.

Calling all nonprofit, community and civic groups! Immediately following the film, we’ll be hosting a “Joining Fair.” Sign up to showcase your group’s volunteer or club opportunities! (Please plan to bring your own table, and feel free to partner with other groups if you’d like to share a table).

The community screening is presented in partnership with AARP Rhode IslandThe Providence Eye, and Leadership Rhode Island.

Have you seen green Adirondack chairs appearing in Roger Williams Park? With funding from the @aarplivable #aarpcommunitychallenge grant program and the hard work of @pvdparks to install them, these Conversation Nooks invite visitors to sit, unwind, and connect with neighbors and loved ones.

Find four spots along Frederick C. Green Memorial Blvd. and near the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium.

Even in the winter months, we hope these seating nooks will offer a few moments of reprieve in the outdoors when neighbors need it most.
A friendly heads up to Park-goers: Maple and Pine avenues at Cladastris Avenue are temporarily closed for approximately 4-6 weeks, limiting vehicle access to Park Avenue via FC Greene Memorial Boulevard.

This temporary closure makes way for boardwalk construction at Cunliff Lake, a public access project that will enhance recreational opportunities at Roger Williams Park!

During this period, traffic will be detoured to park entrance and exit locations at Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. Drivers using the Elmwood Avenue exit will follow Cladastris Avenue to FC Greene Memorial Boulevard to Linden Avenue to Elmwood Avenue south to Park Avenue east. Those using the Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue exit will follow Cladastris Avenue to Montgomery Avenue to Broad Street south to Warwick Avenue south to Park Avenue west.

Pedestrian and bicycle access will remain open. However, visitors are advised to follow posted signage and respect all barriers, as a crane will be active weekdays from 7AM to 3PM.
