Did you know that Roger Williams Park has several miles of peaceful woodland trails that wind along the water’s edge? You wouldn’t guess you’re in the middle of the city!

Join a moderate 2-mile hike of a portion of the Big Lakes Trail with the Roger Williams Park Conservancy, RI Families in Nature, and the Providence Parks Urban Wildlife Refuge Partnership.

Hike will depart from the Botanical Center parking lot promptly at 1pm; see a Park map. We’ll end back at the Botanical Center for a fall-inspired nature art activity!

Things to know:

  • Bring water (and snacks if needed) and dress for the weather; tuck pants into socks as there may be ticks.
  • Beware of possible poison ivy along the trails.
  • For this hike, you can earn 5,000 points through the Zoo’s Nature Swap. Registered participants bring in natural “found” items to collect points for swapping with items in the Nature Swap collection. Learn more.
