Betsey Williams Cottage Free Open Houses

Fridays, 10 AM-3 PM
RWP Museum of Natural History and Planetarium
Step back in time at the Betsey Williams Cottage, built in 1773 and once home to Roger Williamsโ€™ great-great-great-granddaughters, Betsey and Rhoda Williams. Upon her death in 1871, Betsey Williams bequeathed the cottage and 102 acres of surrounding farmland to the City of Providence, forming the foundation of what is now Roger Williams Park.
Visit during these FREE open houses (WEATHER PERMITTING) to learn about the history of the cottage and its role in the development of Roger Williams Park. This program is presented by the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium. The Betsey Williams Cottage is located near the Elmwood Avenue entrance to Roger Williams Park. Street parking is available near the Rose Garden.

Itโ€™s not every board meeting that you get to meet a tamandua! ๐Ÿ˜

This curious critter made an appearance at the RWPC Board Meeting this morning at the @rwpzoo Education Center. Huge thank you to Amy Roberts, Andrea Stein, Anthony Polite, and Kim Warren from the Zoo team for letting us meet Oblio and sharing so many interesting facts about the tamandua (a type of anteater!). Oblio brought many professional insights to the meeting, too ๐Ÿœ

Visit the Zoo to learn more about tamanduas and other amazing animals!
