A new addition to the FirstWorks Live concert series lineup is Music From The Sole, a tap dance and live music company that celebrates tap’s Afro-diasporic roots, particularly its connections to Afro-Brazilian dance and music. The ensemble will perform two sets on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Dalrymple Boathouse Lawn. Led by Brazilian choreographer Leonardo Sandoval—named one of “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine—and composer Gregory Richardson, Music from the Sole’s work incorporates wide-ranging influences from samba and passinho (Brazilian Funk), to Afro-Cuban, jazz, and house. For their FirstWorks Live performance, the ensemble is joined by Providence-based tap artist, Orlando Hernández.

This PVDFest Happening of dance, music and food is presented in partnership with Food Truck Friday and PVD Food Truck Events. Visitors are invited to bring a chair, a picnic blanket, and their favorite Food Truck Friday treats, available starting at 4:30 p.m.
just across from the Boathouse Lawn performance area at the Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village.
