The Class:

Roger Williams Park Conservancy invites artists of all skill levels to join local artist Kathy Hodge for Saturday morning art instruction in drawing the landscape with charcoal. The Park will be your subject! We will meet at the Boathouse where Kathy will present a short demo of the charcoal drawing technique, You will be provided with a charcoal drawing kit, including paper. Kathy will be available for advice and feedback as you work, and we will gather at noon to discuss each other’s work. Please bring your own lawn or camping chair.

Classes are capped at 15 people, high school age and up. Attendees are asked to wear a face covering and maintain a 6-foot distance from non-family members during the class.

Times and Days:

9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday, September 19 (rain date TBD). Please bring a snack and water and lawn or camping chair, and a drawing board if you have one.

Location:

Classes will start at the Dalrymple Boathouse (across from the Carousel).

The Instructor:

Kathy Hodge is a locally based, RISD-educated visual artist. She has served as the artist-in-residence at 13 national parks and has been shown in galleries across New England. In 2017 she was awarded the Painting Fellowship from the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts. See her work at www.kathyhodge.com.

Price:

The suggested donation for this class is $25.  Donations support programs in the Park. Other financial support for the class is provided in part by the City of Providence Parks Department and Department of Arts, Culture, and Tourism.
