Roger Williams Park Venue Closures

 

FRIDAY, MARCH 13 – Please note that Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, and Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village are closed for the next two weeks, and their programming as well as all Roger Williams Park Conservancy programming has been cancelled or postponed during that time, or until further notice.

Any schedule updates will be posted here as well as to the Conservancy’s social media accounts. Thank you for your understanding.


UPDATE – TUESDAY, MARCH 17
From the City of Providence Parks Department:
“COVID-19 Advisory: City Parks including greenspaces and walking paths will remain open, however social distancing is encouraged in these spaces. Residents are urged to stay off playground equipment, as their cleanliness cannot be guaranteed.”

Please enjoy Roger Williams Park’s 430 acres of trails, walking paths and open space – and share photos of your Park explorations on the Conservancy’s social media accounts.


UPDATE – MONDAY, MARCH 30
Please note that all City of Providence closures have been extended through April 17. This includes Roger Williams Park Botanical Center, Museum of Natural History and Planetarium, and Roger Williams Park Zoo & Carousel Village.

The City of Providence Parks Department also announces that, “Per the State of Emergency declared by the City of Providence to address COVID-19, playgrounds, fitness equipment, basketball courts & sports fields are closed until further notice. Parks with passive recreation areas will remain open. Please follow social distancing practices (6 feet of space and avoiding gatherings larger than 5 people) if you do go outside for essential errands or to enjoy our beautiful parks. UPDATE – TUESDAY, APRIL 7
Announced by City of Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza:

“As of 12:00PM today, April 7, all Providence parks, green spaces, dog parks, sports fields and courts, and off-road trails–including Roger Williams Park, North Burial Ground, Blackstone Boulevard and Pleasant Valley Parkway—are closed for pedestrian and recreational use until May 1.”
