Sisters Circle Up by Raffini

All events from 5:30-8:30 p.m.
  • 2/28: for women ages 19-35 at Gateway Center, Roger Williams Park
  • 3/6: for women ages 36-59ย Gateway Center, Roger Williams Park
  • 3/13: for women ages 60+ Gateway Center, Roger Williams Park
  • 3/19: All Sisters Circle Up at Southside Cultural Center, RI – ALL AGES

Sistersย Circleย Upย isย a space for women with connections to Roger Williams Park to get together to share memory, lived histories, and peace practices. Join storyteller and story collectorย Raffini as she leads participants through a memory practice as she captures the stories of sisters and their narratives of Roger Williams Park.

This work will be the research and engagement Raffini will use to create her final commemorative work for The Providence Commemoration Lab at the end of this summer.

Note: Dinner and childcare will be provided. The Gateway Center is ADA accessible.
By coming to these events you are agreeing to be photographed. The documentation will be used by Raffini for her research and maybe in producing the installation for PCL.

A friendly heads up to Park-goers: Maple and Pine avenues at Cladastris Avenue are temporarily closed for approximately 4-6 weeks, limiting vehicle access to Park Avenue via FC Greene Memorial Boulevard.

This temporary closure makes way for boardwalk construction at Cunliff Lake, a public access project that will enhance recreational opportunities at Roger Williams Park!

During this period, traffic will be detoured to park entrance and exit locations at Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue and Elmwood Avenue. Drivers using the Elmwood Avenue exit will follow Cladastris Avenue to FC Greene Memorial Boulevard to Linden Avenue to Elmwood Avenue south to Park Avenue east. Those using the Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue exit will follow Cladastris Avenue to Montgomery Avenue to Broad Street south to Warwick Avenue south to Park Avenue west.

Pedestrian and bicycle access will remain open. However, visitors are advised to follow posted signage and respect all barriers, as a crane will be active weekdays from 7AM to 3PM.
