The Falconer was a gift in memory of donor and industrialist Daniel Watson Lyman’s grandfather.

Also called the Dyer Memorial, The Falconer can be seen on many historic Park postcards. Its original location was a striking one in the center of what is now Pleasure Lake. Created in 1889 by Henry Hudson Kitson who also designed Mayor Doyle’s statue in downtown Providence. Kitson also created the famous monument, The Minute Man, in Lexington, Massachusetts.
